Polartec Power Dry was created to give base layer fabrics greater efficiency, more dependable moisture wicking properties, faster dry times and better overall performance. Often, other brands can only provide temporary wicking chemistry that fades and weakens with every wash. Power Dry is different. It does not rely on chemicals to make it wick or manage moisture. By designing mechanical wicking fabric with patented bi-component construction, Polartec® created a superior base material that pulls moisture from the skin, expands for faster evaporation and lasts the life of the fabric. Moving moisture away from the skin and allowing continuous evaporation prevents your base layer from becoming saturated and helps to regulate your temperature in all weather conditions.
Lightweight Polartec® Power Dry® UPF 50+ refers to the many styles that are most suitable for warm weather. That being said, many of the lightest styles make a wonderful base layer when layering with other fabrics for winter warmth.

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor
UPF ratings of 15 and 20 are considered to provide good levels of sun protection. UPF ratings of 25, 30 and 35 are considered to provide very good levels of sun protection. UPF ratings of 40, 45, 50 and 50+ are considered to provide excellent levels of sun protection. UPF rating of 25 allows only 1/25th of UV radiation to go through the fabric onto your skin. UPF 50 means that only 1/50th makes its way through. If you buy UPF clothing, you’re choosing garments that are designed and constructed to provide a high level of UV protection.
Polartec® Power Dry®
Smooth, light, flexible polyester fabric, perfect as a first layer of clothing. It is characterized by high breathability, keeps the skin dry, even during strenuous exercise. It has a very delicate finish from the body, which provides all-day comfort. Knit Power Dry provides antibacteriality, dries very quickly.
Polartec® Power Dry® materials were created with this in mind, to ensure comfort while maintaining skin moisture away from her. All the types are patented two-component structure that uses two different types of yarns on both sides of the material. This feature creates two different surfaces: the first task is to transport moisture away from the skin to the outside fabric, and the task of the second rapid evaporation of moisture.
How does it work?
Moisture and high humidity on the skin surface cause discomfort. With three mutually complementary mechanisms of Polartec® Power Dry® eliminates moisture on the skin surface:
1. The material breathes well and does not restrict freedom of movement of water vapor.
2. “touch points” on the inner surface of the material absorbs moisture. Sweat is transported from the skin to the outer layer of material which is spread over a larger area and evaporated. Polartec® Power Dry® transports at least 30% more moisture from the skin than one component materials at the same time.
3. When the sweat reaches the outer layer material is spread on the surface many times larger, allowing drying times faster than cotton.
